How we built the atlas

  • The atlas includes handmade cigars and a machine-made range. Construction is stated where it differs.
  • Blend, strength, sizes and tasting notes come from makers and retailers. Every page links its sources.
  • Records were researched from those sources, then cross-checked by a second AI model.
  • 224 cigars show a published rating. Customer ratings need five or more reviews.
  • Popularity comes from retailer best-seller lists in 13 markets.
  • Each cigar gets a score on eight flavour axes, shown on its flavour map. Its published notes count for 60% and its wrapper style for 40%. Body and strength sit on their own scale, because strength comes from nicotine, not flavour.

Questions

How do you find cigars similar to one I like?

Open the cigar in the list below. Each page shows up to five matches based on flavour and body. They stay within one step of its strength.

Where do the ratings come from?

Only from scores a retailer or magazine published, like Holt's customer ratings or Cigar Aficionado. A customer rating needs at least five reviews to be shown. We don't score cigars ourselves.
